How much does a service business website cost and what drives the price?

A service business website is priced by five drivers: the number of pages, custom application features, integrations with your CRM and booking, content production and hosting. We quote after a scope call, because the same five drivers can differ by ten times between two businesses.

What decides the cost of a service business website?

The cost of a service business website is decided by the work each driver creates, not by a per-page rate. A ten-page WordPress site with a booking calendar and a client portal with logins, billing and a dashboard are both “websites”, and the second is a software product.

Skill Up Experts builds three kinds: WordPress sites for marketing pages, custom websites and SaaS products on Next.js or Laravel with PostgreSQL, and GoHighLevel funnel pages for campaigns. We only quote after a scope call, and every quote lists the drivers below so you can remove one and see the price change.

Drivers

What are the five cost drivers and what do they contain?

IntegrationsGoHighLevel forms, calendars and chat, payments, accounting, field-service software, ShopifyTwo-way sync and webhooks instead of an embed; systems without a public API

WordPress, custom build or GoHighLevel funnel: which costs what?

A GoHighLevel funnel page is the cheapest to launch because the calendar, form and chat are native and the hosting is included in the $297 or $497 plan the client already pays for; it fits campaigns and single offers. A WordPress site costs more because it needs a theme, plugins, hosting and maintenance, and it fits a marketing site with many pages and guides.

A custom website or SaaS product costs the most because it is engineered: authentication, database, billing and an admin area are built and tested rather than installed. It fits businesses that sell a tool or need a client portal that WordPress plugins cannot deliver safely.

  • Funnel page: fastest launch, lowest cost, limited layout control
  • WordPress: best for content-heavy marketing sites, moderate ongoing maintenance
  • Custom or SaaS: highest cost, full control, engineered for logins, billing and data

Which costs do owners forget to budget?

Owners usually budget the build and forget the four costs that arrive afterward: content that nobody has written, plugin and platform subscriptions, the speed work needed to pass Core Web Vitals on a phone, and the time to keep integrations working when a platform changes its API.

  • Copy and photography for every page, or the site launches with placeholders
  • Annual subscriptions for premium plugins, form tools and hosting
  • Speed and accessibility work after launch when the page fails Google’s thresholds
  • Integration maintenance when GoHighLevel, Shopify or a payment provider updates
Process

How do we quote a website?

The quote follows a scope call and comes as a written document within a few days.

1

Scope call

What the site must do for a lead, which systems it connects to and which pages carry search demand.

2

Platform choice

Funnel, WordPress or custom, chosen by the features, not by preference.

3

Written quote by driver

Each of the five drivers priced separately, with options you can remove.

4

Build in phases

Marketing pages first, integrations second, custom features third, so leads start before the full build ends.

5

Care plan

Hosting, updates, monitoring and speed checks priced monthly, cancellable.

FAQ

Common questions about website cost

Why do you not publish a price list?

Because the five drivers vary so much that a list would either overcharge a simple site or undercharge a client portal. A written quote by driver after a 30-minute call is more honest, and you can remove drivers to see the number move.

Is a cheaper template site a false economy?

Often. A template that loads slowly on a phone, cannot embed the calendar or breaks when a plugin updates costs more in lost leads than it saved. We use templates where they fit, marketing pages mainly, and build custom where the features demand it.

Do I own the website and the code?

Yes. WordPress sites, custom code and the GoHighLevel sub-account are yours. We hand over admin access, source code and documentation at the end of the build, and the care plan is optional.

How long does a build take?

A funnel page takes days, a WordPress marketing site a few weeks, and a custom website or SaaS product a few months depending on features. We launch marketing pages first so leads start before the rest is finished.

Can you take over a site someone else built?

Usually yes, after a technical audit that checks speed, security, plugin health and whether the integrations still work. Sometimes the audit shows a rebuild is cheaper than a rescue, and we say so.
